While my interests might seem varied, they orbit around communication and user experience. Rather, around improving UX, particularly through excellent, effective communication.
I have written product documentation, designed or sold medical products, managed tradeshows, managed marketing activities, and been a product manager. I started as a technical writer in IT Information Services at the University of Houston then became a medical marketing writer for Sulzer Intermedics. After sticking my nose into the product development process more often than a technical writer usually would, Intermedics promoted me into product management. I’ve served as a marketing and product manager for several companies. As such, I regularly solicited feedback from customers to develop new products.
Eventually, I found her way back to content development…since my One True Love is writing. This time around, though, I have a strong foundation in talking to customers about what they need and working with a development team to deliver a solution. So now I focus on improving product UX and delivering effective targeted content.
Along the way, I helped found the Houston chapter for the User Experience Professionals Association. And I became a Certified Usability Analyst. These days, I live among the trees in Houston with three cats and my elderly mother who alternately help and hinder my daily routine.
